Our centre offers you the possibility of studying in the cradle of Spanish language.
Our bylaws define Fundation´s aims: to promote use and knowledge of Spanish language and to give support to Spanish as a second language teachers formation.
In order to achieve these aims our centre has an Investigation Area, which organizes different activities related to Spanish language, especially to Spanish language origins. These activities are developed in Palacio de la Isla or anywhere in Castilla y León.
We count with “Centro de Conocimiento Orígenes del Español” (an archive with more tan 25.000 cards about Latin inscriptions of Península Ibérica in Roman Age. Also, we have just published a study and a facsimile edition about “Cartularios de Valpuesta”, first proof of written Spanish. These are different documents from 9th to 13th century discovered in Santa María de Valpuesta
(Burgos). The documents have changed the guidelines in the field of Spanish Language Origins study.
Our materials count with the academic value given by the presence of our four sponsor universities: Burgos, León, Salamanca and Valladolid. We also collaborate with experts in field of Spanish Language Origins.
