Enchanting Segovia is home to OISE's intensive Spanish course for young learners, with programmes designed to challenge and immerse students in Spanish language and culture. When established at a young age, a foreign language can be an inexhaustible resource for the future, and OISE has tailored the student learning experience to make a real difference in learning Spanish.

OISE's philosophy of total language immersion plays an important role, meaning the whole learning experience is structured to teach relevant vocabulary and expressions, and to provide constant opportunities for students to reinforce what is learned in by applying it to natural, real-world situations, both in the classroom and outside of it.

Summer Camps

Summer courses for young people

The Summer School Programme is a full time course of 27 hours of tuition per week, with a maximum of 8 students per class. Through this course, we aim to develop in our students an intellectual and social understanding which will lead to a fulfilling life, both personally and professionally. We do this by delivering a full day of learning which focuses on language, academic literacy, subject literacy and social and cultural fluency.

Students are collected from the airport in Madrid by OISE staff and taken to their host family or the residence if within the standard hours of arrival.

Activities

During the evenings and weekends the school offers a variety of recreational activities that are organised to encourage children to use Spanish in all contexts. At the weekend there is an excursion to Madrid or Guadarrama nature reserve, where there is rock climbing and canoeing.

Accommodations

Homestay
The Intensive Curriculum Programme offers host family accommodation with specially selected Spanish families with comfortable homes. OISE’s policy is invariably that no two speakers of the same mother tongue are housed with the same family to allow students to practise their new language after school hours.

Residence
The residence is a 15 minute walk from the school, in the heart of Segovia. The dormitories are composed of single rooms. Boys and girls have separate dorms, and there is always a supervisor who sleeps in each dormitory. Host families are selected by the school.
