 | Spanish Schools in Spain School Trips Schools, institutes, student groups Bla Languages offers tailor-made packages for college and school groups coming from abroad to learn Spanish. Not only do we arrange your Spanish courses but we also organise accommodation with host families and excursions around our beautiful island. We have received excellent feedback from previous students who loved their cultural lessons and their friendly host families. Here is an example of a recent group’s itinerary although please note that we are happy to make a unique itinerary to meet each group’s needs: Sunday Arrive at Tenerife South airport where a Bla representative will welcome you and take you to your bus. It only takes 10 minutes to get to El Médano where we introduce all the students to their host families. Students from our local school arranged a barbecue on the beach to welcome the English students and tell them about life in El Médano. Monday: Spanish classes from 09:00 – 12:00. Excursion to Mount Teide and the largest solar observatory in the world. Tuesday: Spanish classes from 09:00 – 12:00. Free afternoon for shopping and exploring El Médano. Wednesday: Spanish classes from 09:00 – 12:00. Guided tour of La Laguna, a UNESCO world heritage site and the cultural capital of Tenerife. Thursday: Spanish classes from 09:00 – 12:00. Trip to Los Cristianos where the students took a boat ride to go whale-watching. Friday: Spanish classes from 09:00 – 12:00. Surf lessons at the local beach with a Spanish speaking instructor. Saturday: Full day excursion to La Gomera. the beautiful and unspoilt neighbouring island, including Garajonay National Park and the historic city of San Sebastian. Sunday: Fly home. Extensive Course 3 3 hours per week If you are lucky enough to live here in the south of Tenerife, come along to our Resident classes to keep in touch with the locals. We have a maximum number of 8 students per class and we only hire qualified, native teachers to ensure that the focus remains on real conversation and communication. Our courses also include fun activities around El Médano so that students gain confidence speaking to the locals. All the chosen topics are focused on real-life situations and useful dialogues to ensure survival in Spain! |
 | Activities In El Médano you will never be short of sporting activities especially if you enjoy getting wet! There is no need to hire a car when you stay in El Médano because all of Tenerife’s best sporting activities take place around this Spanish town. Tenerife is also a paradise for rock climbing. Not only is the climate perfect for climbing all year round, but there is also a lot of variety. El Médano is located only 15 minutes from the best climbing areas of Tenerife, in Arico. There are around 15 areas to choose from, with an enormous amount of routes. We work with the only company on the island with certified teachers, who have been running their school for 8 years now, Tenerife Climbing House. If you already have climbing experience, there are also advanced courses for example trad climbing, psychological aspects of climbing (coping with your fears), crack climbing techniques etc. We have a wide range of packages to meet all your needs including accommodation. We need a minimum of two students for each course so please email us and check availability. El Médano is filled with trendy bars who organise concerts with local artists where you are guaranteed to have a good night out. Chiringstones: Just across the square, Chirinstones has gigs almost every night of the week. Veinte 04: This bar in the main square is always great for a watermelon mojito on it’s quirky terrace. Manfreds: The best place in town for the sunset where the barraquitos are top notch and the beers are served with popcorn 🙂 Goiter: If salsa is your thing, don’t miss a night out in Goiter to show off your moves. In the summer, the town really comes alive with the Northern Tenerifians coming down to spend their holidays in town and there are fiestas organised by the local council almost every night of the week with cinema in the square, dancing and live music. Sports Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, Surfing and SUP El Médano is a cool surfers’ town, famous for it’s excellent conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing. To show you how good the conditions are, the PWA Windsurfing Championships come to town every year in the summer for the world championships. On calm days, surfing, SUP (Stand Up Paddle) or kayaking are fun alternatives. We collaborate with all the best local businesses in town for kit hire and courses so please let us know if you are interested and we’ll get you a great deal. Hiking and Cycling El Médano sits in the bay of the stunning Montaña Roja Nature Reserve. With numerous trails around the reserve and beautiful views from the top of the mountain, this is the perfect way to spend the day. Bla! organises walks up the mountain with native Spanish speakers so that our students can get some exercise whilst learning Spanish along the way. We can also arrange trips and hikes up in the National Park of Mount Teide (the highest mountain in Spain) where you will never get bored of all the incredible paths. We work with Sport Center El Médano to offer discounts on bike hire. You can hire a bike for only 50€ the week to get you around town and ride along the coast. Scuba Diving The school is next door to the wonderful George at El Médano Dive who won’t just take you around the island for the best dives, he’ll also give you a great laugh! From ship wrecks to sea turtles, the waters around the island won’t disappoint. |
 | Accommodations Host family This is an great option for students who want a full immersion into Spanish life. We highly recommend this option as it gives students and insight into different aspects of culture and daily life here in the south of Tenerife. It also helps you meet local people and make friends from day one! The families are carefully selected and we visit all of the houses to ensure the conditions are up to the standards we expect for our students. Families range from single people to couples to families with children and we will always try to match a family to you depending on your needs and wishes. It is important that students let us know of any preferences before placing them with a family, for example, smoking or non-smoking or with or without children or pets. All houses are within walking distance from the school and the beach, some even have a swimming pool! Hostel stay Bla Languages is only a 2 minute walk from the trendiest and most affordable accommodation in town – Casa Grande Surf Hostel. The facilities are excellent and it’s a very affordable option especially for Bla! students who receive discounted prices. The hostel only opened in 2012 and has a beautiful roof terrace to have a beer and chill after your Spanish classes. Perfecto! We have teamed up with the hostel to offer the following package deals which include our intensive Spanish courses with accommodation Private Apartment We have a variety of private apartments available for students, one, two or three bedrooms and of varying prices. Hotels If you are here with a more substantial budget, there are two lovely hotels in El Médano: Arenas del Mar and Hotel El Médano Both are perfectly situated right on the water and walking distance from BLA!.
