Activities Our school offers a wide range of activities, amongst others cultural and sportive as well as recreational and gastronomic ones. As we want our students to benefit from a vast programme, the activities alternate from week to week. Free Services On Mondays Debla offers new students a guided visit to Malaga city centre. During this visit our expert guide provides cultural information as well as interesting facts about the most important museums and monuments in Malaga. Our farewell drink is our way of saying “hasta pronto” to those students who are leaving us. This event is for those who have reached the end of their course and their stay in Malaga. Touristic Tour Every week we organise excursions encouraging students to become acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of Andalusia´s main cities. Culture Debla also offers a variety of cultural visits in order to show students Malaga´s important heritage. Each week we offer guided visits to the city´s main museums and monuments such as: The Picasso Museum, The Thyssen Museum, The Pompidou Centre, The Cathedral, Gibralfaro Castle and The Alcazaba, to name but a few. Gastronomy COOKING LESSONS One of our favourite activities is our Spanish cooking lesson. What better way to immerse yourself in the local culture than through its cuisine. Discover with us how to cook and prepare some of Spain´s most traditional and tasty dishes; Spanish omelette, paella, gazpacho not to mention tapas! Following preparation the fun continues as we get to relax and sample our dishes. “SAFARI DE BARES” (TAPAS TOUR) At Debla, we believe that one of the best ways to learn the Spanish language and culture is by sharing your experiences with companions outside of the classroom. We therefore suggest and recommend a tour of the most mythical and old taverns and bars of Malaga´s historical centre. An evening on the town where students can discover Malaga from an insiders perspective, experiencing firsthand Malaga’s cuisine, tasting traditional and typical Spanish dishes (paella, ham, Spanish omelette, cheese, Spanish potato salad, fried fish, etc.) and drinks such as Malaga´s sweet wine, summer red (“tinto de verano”), mojito but to name a few. If you are a food lover, this tour is a MUST! WINE Dance If you are planning to study with us at Debla and enjoy dancing then our dance lessons; flamenco, salsa and bachata are a perfect option to complement your study abroad experience! The “Sevillanas” lesson brings us closer to the world of flamenco and the popular and lively festivals of Andalusia introducing students to the song, dance and music that make up this artistic expression. With this activity our students can discover the passion and emotions expressed through foot stomping and hand clapping while learning to dance the traditional and popular “Sevillanas” dance, danced at any Andalusian party. However, if salsa and bachata are more to your liking, you are in luck! At Debla, we have teachers who are specialised in this Latin art form and we offer group lessons that will make your stay with us even more enjoyable. Sports If you are passionate about sports, the water and the beach, you will enjoy the sporting activities that Debla has to offer. Paddle boarding Paddle boarding is quite popular in Malaga at the moment. It is a relatively easy sport to pick up involving patience and balance, riding your surf board while standing with the help of a paddle. Fancy giving it a go? We strongly recommend this sport as a fun and exciting activity which is suitable for everyone! Kayaking Other water activities include kayaking where accompanied by friendly, fun and qualified instructors; students can enjoy a scenic tour of some of our natural surroundings. Instructors will teach students balance and how to work as a team. Fun is guaranteed! Voleyball Furthermore, at Debla we organise beach volley ball as well as some football games with locals, for the footie aficionados amongst you, not only to encourage a healthy game but also an opportunity for students to practice Spanish at their leisure. All the activities are conducted in Spanish, allowing a perfect mixture of having fun and experiencing new things with learning the language, not to mention the fact that they’re a great way to make friends! Ping-Pong Ping pong tournaments are organised against the teachers on the school grounds. It’s a fun and relaxed activity bringing both student and teacher together, fostering a friendly and chilled out atmosphere. The tournament includes trophies and prizes which are presented to the winners after the final game is played. |
