Our activity programme is designed for students to have a life experience, make friends, practise and improve their Spanish, discover and experience the way of life, gastronomy and hospitality of our city, Oviedo, our region, Asturias, our country, Spain.

We offer a wide range of social, cultural activities, sports, half-day trips, and one-day or weekend excursions.

We can also provide tours and stays for our students to travel all over Europe.

Programmed activities can be altered depending upon the students’ likes, personal interests and weather conditions.

Oviedo City Guided Tour: The perfect introduction for settling into your new surroundings. The city guided tour follows a statues trail and will include visits to the Convention Centre Auditorium, Cathedral, University and Museums.

Oviedo’s ideal location, about 25 minutes from the coast, surrounding mountains and a wide variety of interesting sites, make it the perfect city where students will always find something to do.

Nava Cider Museum: On a trip to the Nava Cider Museum you will discover how locally-grown apples have been used in Asturias to produce this refreshing traditional drink since ancient times.

Asturian Seaside Towns: Full-day excursions will take you on trips to the Northern Coast towns and villages, as well as bordering cities such as Santander and Leon. Discover beautiful destinations like Gijon, Salinas, Cudillero, Luarca, Colunga, Lastres, Ribadesella, Llanes, etc., before topping up your tan on their immaculate, golden-sand beaches.

Another alternative for day-trip excursions include the impressive National Parks surrounding Oviedo, Picos de Europa, Somiedo, Ponga and Redes, which are within a short distance from the city.

Weekend Trips: Organised for those who want to discover other Spanish cities and towns (Santiago de Compostela, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, etc.)

Alternatively cultural tours can be arranged for European cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels and Rome.

Sporty students can also practise a great assortment of sports sessions, football, basketball, tennis, horse-riding, canoeing, surfing and skiing in Winter, with the assistance of professional coaches.

If you are more for music, you can attend concerts, festivals, opera, and even take classical Spanish guitar and flamenco lessons.

FAMILY/HOMESTAY ACCOMMODATION
Living with a family is an excellent opportunity to practise your Spanish and experience the culture and customs of our region, Asturias. Our families are carefully selected and regularly visited by our Accommodation Officer. Students will have a single bedroom, and they will be able to choose between room and breakfast or half-board accommodation. Host families may live within walking distance from our school, in residential zones surrounding it or in towns about a 25-30 minutes bus/train ride.

STUDENT RESIDENCE
For students who wish more independence, Ovida Student Residence, just 10-minute walking distance from our school, offers state-of-the-art facilities. These include a conference room, an indoor swimming pool, a library with computers and Internet connection, TV rooms, Wi-Fi access in bedrooms, gym, sports room, car park, etc. The residence also offers a range of different services: bedroom cleaning, laundry, ironing, full-board buffet, café, private security, phone in bedroom… Students can stay in en-suite single or twin bedrooms, and best price is guaranteed.

From 12 weeks onwards, we also offer the possibility to stay in a private apartment.

IN OVIEDO, there is a wide variety of one to five star hotels. Our school has a special arrangement to get the best price for our students in any of the following hotels, all of them a few minutes walking distance from the school:

AYRE HOTEL OVIEDO **** Superior, located in the “Complejo Calatrava”, just opposite our school.

This architectural complex hosts the Oviedo Convention and Exhibition Centre, arranged in two floors with a multipurpose hall, conference rooms, and one of the biggest auditoriums in Spain, sitting 2144 people.

The “Ayre Hotel Oviedo” is located in the southern part of the complex. Inside you will also find “MODOO” Shopping Centre, with exclusive boutiques, cafés and entertainment.
